Welcome to the Centacare
Community House
/ Drop-In Centre

Centacare in Whyalla is part of Centacare The Diocese of Port Pirie. Whyalla Centacare has two sites. It has operated from 'Samaritan House' 38 Cudmore Terrace, Whyalla Phone (08) 8645 8233 for some years. From here it provides a range of programs including Men and Family Relationships, BreakEven, Family Conciliation and Mediation, ACCESS and services such as Alternative Care.

In July 2002 Centacare opened the Community House/Drop In Centre in the western area of Whyalla to help respond to some community needs. Centacare's Low Income Support Program (LISP), which assists people experiencing the effects of poverty and/or isolation, operates from here.

The Door is Open at
The Community House / Drop In Centre
Centacare delivers this in the following ways:
  • Centacare's Community House/Drop in Centre is flexible and adaptable to the needs of the community.
  • The development, organisation and implementation of the Community House Project is supervised by Centacare, the Community House Co-ordinator and volunteers. An advisory group will be established to guide the development and administration of the service.
  • Centacare ensures its workers have relevant qualifications and experience in human services and demonstrates a level of competence according to job specifications. Centacare conduct on-going training programs for volunteers, ensuring that volunteers are adequately trained for the positions they hold.
  • There is an on site co-ordinator at the Community House.  Workers visit from Centacare's main office at 38 Cudmore Terrace and other agencies.
